One thing most believers don’t consider is that God looks at the heart behind the work or service.
I found the story of Cain and Abel very interesting. Two things are mentioned about them and their offerings in the following scripture:
Genesis 4:3-5 (NLT)
“When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the LORD. Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The LORD accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.”Many of us today will look down on Cain, but most of us have no idea of the implication and feeling of God rejecting us and our gift – or service. We just serve anyhow, not mindful of whether or not God accepts or approves of our service.
Thank God, He accepts us in Christ, but we have something to do with whether or not He accepts our service.
That is why some services we have rendered for the Lord may end up being burnt and we suffering lose.
The above is an excerpt from my new book “The Effective Church Worker” which is going to be launched in a few days’ time. Be sure to order your copy or better still pre-order it in Kindle format here (offer ends 23:59pm on 19th of November).
